My Review

A 2021 Top Rated Read

When ex-Military Police detective Ash Carter and love interest Su Ling make discreet arrangements for their safe passage from Singapore, Su Ling's close relationship with powerful mobster Andrew Yipp threatens to derail their plans. Meanwhile, Carter occupies himself with investigating counterfeit money, missing people and murder.

Singapore Fire is the sixth and final novel in the excellent Ash Carter series. As with previous books it's action-packed, exciting and written with considerable knowledge of 1950s Singapore — effortlessly transporting the reader back in time. The setting really is a breath of fresh air and it's one of the aspects I most enjoy about the series.

The plot is wonderfully twisty, with fabulous descriptions and plenty of unexpected developments. Characters, with their intriguing backstories, are fully developed and feel real. There's so much depth and detail to the author's writing that I never cease to be amazed.

Without a shadow of doubt the crowning moment is the superb revelation in the final chapter — my jaw literally fell to the floor 😲 !!! It's a fantastic read and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment.
