Behind Her Eyes

By Sarah Pinborough

Review

Louise is a single mother living in London and working part-time as a psychiatrist's secretary. On a night out she shares a drunken kiss with a stranger, David, in a bar; only discovering later that he's her new boss. . . and married. Awkward! When Louise accidentally bumps into Adele, David's wife, they begin a secret friendship, which leads to a bizarre three-way association full of lies, deceit and manipulation.

Before starting this book I knew it had a somewhat 'Marmite' reputation with some readers loving it and others deriding it due to the 'OMG' twist at the end. Not wanting to give away any spoilers, you do need to keep an open mind and embrace certain elements of the story to fully enjoy it — which is exactly what I did. Although it was a little slow at the start, I found myself becoming increasingly drawn into the plot. By halfway through I was gripped. I loved never quite knowing which direction it would take and the unsettling ambience it created. A really good read.
