When a woman's mutilated body is discovered on a slab in a disused butcher's shop, it has enormous repercussions for Detective Robert Hunter who finds himself on the trail of a terrifying serial killer. It would appear the victims are carefully selected before suffering the most horrendous deaths imaginable. In a game of cat and mouse Hunter must outwit the killer; bringing his reign of terror to an end. 

WOW, another fantastic read in this gripping series! It was brutal and gruesome but totally unputdownable. Author Chris Carter is a name to be reckoned with in this genre. I'm gradually working my way through the series and The Night Stalker is my fourth book (I read book #8, The Caller, out of sequence, oops!). I've not been disappointed with any. The plot is fast-moving with well-developed characters who feel solid and real. A fabulous book and one of my favourite reads of 2024.

Synopsis

But when his inquiry collides with a missing persons' case being investigated by the razor-sharp Whitney Meyers, Hunter suspects the killer might be keeping several women hostage. Soon Robert finds himself on the hunt for a murderer with a warped obsession, a stalker for whom love has become hate.
