📕My Review

The Worst Lie is part of the Lexie Wyatt murder series. Not having read the first book I can confirm that this second book works perfectly as a standalone read. The author succinctly provides all necessary background information ensuring the reader is fully informed.

Years earlier, Lexie's friend Helen was part of a close-knit group of university flatmates. Having gone their separate ways after an ill-fated reunion and apparent suicide, Helen is fearful when ex-flatmate Eden reappears and suggests another group get-together. Eden confides in Lexie that she believes the suicide was, in fact, murder and someone in the group knows more than they're letting on. Lexie sets out to get to the bottom of the mystery and unwittingly puts herself in danger when her life becomes inexorably entangled with the group.

What a marvellous book! Set in Dorset in the UK, The Worst Lie was a fantastic read that had me gripped from beginning to end. The characters were skillfully brought to life and genuinely seemed real. The plot was twisty and intricate, with all kinds of shenanigans going on. It was difficult to distinguish lies and cover-ups from truth and fact — a sure sign of a quality piece of work. I was on the edge of my seat trying to figure who out who did what to whom. A suspenseful and enjoyable read.

I would like to extend my thanks to author Shauna Bickley for bringing The Worst Lie to my attention and providing a copy for this review.
