Safe With Me

By K.L. Slater

Review

Socially awkward Anna witnesses a road accident between a motorbike and car. Recognising the car driver as Carla — the woman who turned her world upside down many years ago — Anna seizes the opportunity for revenge; befriending the man injured in the crash. She secretly watches Carla from a safe distance. But is Carla really as dangerous as Anna believes or should she be focusing on someone closer to home?

Safe With Me is the author's debut novel and whilst it was an enjoyable read, I found the protagonist Anna difficult to connect with. Her actions and thought processes were quite bizarre. I suppose some readers would enjoy her quirkiness but I found her annoying. The story was good but dragged a little in places. And 'that smell' — what was that all about?!!
